Compassionate death doula support at and before the end of life

I’m Brianna, an end-of-life doula, & founder of The Rooting Place

I come to this work as a mother, teacher, and cultural enthusiast. For over a decade, I’ve lived in rhythm with the Waldorf and Montessori teaching philosophies, guided by nature’s beauty, presence, and trust in life’s unfolding. Before motherhood, I studied art history and anthropology, finding myself drawn to the rich diversity that makes up our world. I harbor deep respect for how cultures ritualize death, honor ancestors, and express grief through symbol and ceremony. This foundation enriches my death work by grounding the care I offer in cultural humility, historical awareness, and a reverence for the ways humans have long found meaning in their lives.

I founded The Rooting Place to provide practical support for individuals and families with both an imminent need, or those 1 by mylooking to plan ahead – empowering people to live purposefully and leave a lasting legacy.

If something here speaks to you, I welcome you to reach out. Whether for support, collaboration, or simple connection, I’m honored to walk beside you.

Here's How I Can Help Individuals & Families at and Before the End of Life:

As your death doula, I offer practical and emotional support to those walking the end-of-life path. The following services are provided virtually and in-person to help guide you on your journey with clarity and practical wisdom.

End-of-Life Planning

Want to “get your affairs in order” but don’t know where to start? I offer support and assistance with essential paperwork such as advance directives, living wills, etc. to ensure an organized transition and peace of mind.

When we die, we leave a lot of “stuff” in our wake. Let’s work together to curate functional spaces to enjoy in our lives today, and give this gift to loved ones after we die.

Just as home births are making a meaningful return, home funerals are reemerging as a gentle, intimate option—offering families sacred time and space to say goodbye in the comfort of home.

This can take many forms—letters, recordings, artwork, quilts, or ethical wills—each offering a meaningful way to preserve stories, values, and love for future generations. What do you want to leave behind?

Respite care offers more than rest for caregivers—it ensures the dying person continues to receive comforting touch, human connection, and the reassurance that they are not alone.
